Your presentation gave me
a whole new perspective to morning and night people. I have
always described myself as a morning person and could really
not understand that a person who "claims to be a night
person" couldn't motivate themselves to get up in the
morning. I was married to a man for 20 plus years who is
very much a night person. He could sleep through the loudest
alarms and would only "wake-up" when he could no longer put
off getting up; or so I thought. Your presentation (and
book) would have been more timely if I had read it before
going into the marriage because it would have provided me
with the knowledge that people do have different clocks.
Unfortunately, there were several heated discussions. I
would tell him that I was not his mother, that he was a
grown man responsible for himself and on and on. Never in my
wildest imagination did I believe what he told me was true
-- that he was a night person and I was a morning person and
this is not "learned behaviours". While this issue was not
the cause of our break-up, I would have probably been a
whole hec of a lot more understanding and worked with him
instead of continually battling with him about his sleeping
habits.
